编辑组在筹备法王2025年出版的著作《天裂——转法轮 宣妙理》时，采访了多位法王座下的弟子，采访工作从2019年持续至2023年。最初的计划是将这些个人经历穿插在《天裂》一书中，目的是让读者对法王的开示有更多的认识。后来在编辑过程中发觉这些故事虽精彩，但怕枝叶太多会影响主干，所以在征得法王与受访者的同意后，将采访内容另行编辑成册。这样的做法，不仅能更好地彰显法王与弟子间的互动及其弘法的方式，也让这许许多多精彩的故事拥有一个属于它们的伸展舞台。这恰恰与香港著名导演王家卫曾将电影《重庆森林》删减的片段重新拼接成全新作品《堕落天使》的做法有相似之处。

此双语书中文书名定为《与光相遇》，英文书名为《Stories of Disciples and Their Guiding Guru》，意为“指引上师与弟子的故事”。此英文书名突显了金刚乘修行中，师徒关系的重要性。

编辑组希望读者能在《与光相遇》中了解到这些佛弟子如何在法王慈悲光芒的牵引下踏入佛门，在困境中遇到曙光，重见光明。

编辑组邀请贡桑乙密法王子为本书写“序”。法王子在序中不仅阐述了书中的四大主题，也分享了他与法王之间的因缘。

During the preparation of Path Beyond Samsara – Invaluable Insights into Dharma Practice, a book authored by H.H. and published in 2025, the editorial team interviewed a number of H.H.’s disciples. These interviews were conducted between 2019 and 2023.

The initial plan was to intersperse these personal experiences within Path Beyond Samsara, so that readers might gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of H.H. and his teachings. During the editorial process, it became apparent that the stories were compelling. Yet, their many details might distract from the book’s main thread. As such, with consent of H.H. and the interviewees, the editorial team decided to compile the interview materials into a separate volume. This approach not only better highlights the interactions between H.H. and his disciples, as well as his unique ways of spreading the Dharma, but also provides these inspiring stories with a stage of their own to unfold. Interestingly, this creative process bears some resemblance to that of the Hong Kong director, Mr Wong Kar-Wai, who transformed the deleted segments from his film Chungking Express into an entirely new cinematic work, Fallen Angels. 

This is a bilingual book. Chinese book title is 与光相遇 (yǔ guāng xiāng yù), which translates literally as ‘Meeting Light’ or ‘An Encounter with Light’. The English subtitle, Stories of Disciples and Their Guiding Guru, highlights the profound importance of the guru–disciple relationship in Vajrayāna tradition practices.

The editorial team hopes that through this book, readers will gain a deeper understanding of how these disciples, guided by the compassionate radiance of H.H., entered the path of the Dharma. The book also aims to show how the disciples found a glimmer of dawn amidst hardship, thereby resolving challenges and stepping back into the light.

The editorial team invited H.E. Kunsang Emee to write the ‘Foreword’ for this book. In it, H.E. not only offers a concise overview of the four themes in this book but also the karmic bond he shares with H.H..
